The Damask rose is said to have been brought to Europe around 1254, but had been celebrated since antiquity for its beauty and fragrance. Indeed, the flower is quite delicate and has an original shape. A symbol of love and beauty, Oceau Marine could only select this ingredient for its benefits on our skin and its sweet, intoxicating scent. 

Where do you find it?

To this day, the Damask Rose is primarily grown in Morocco, Bulgaria, and Turkey. The product we use is Rose essential oil. Despite a good yield, it still takes over four tonnes of petals to obtain 1kg of essential oil, which makes it a precious active ingredient. 

What are its properties? 

The Rose is given properties astringent (that is, that has the property of tightening our pores), tonic and regenerating, this in addition to its sweet scent. 

Thanks to its tonic skin-firming properties, it helps to combat skin ageing and thus works to slow the appearance of wrinkles.

But the Damask Rose is also very effective for to scar and repair fabrics notably for people prone to rosacea. It helps to strengthen tissues. Furthermore, it plays an important role in supporting immune defences by combining actions Antivirals, antibiotics and Antifungals. Which is a plus for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
