Skin: how can you help it heal better?

Il faut du temps pour que la peau «se débarrasse de ses odeurs».« reconstitutes » but sometimes, without anyone really knowing why, the scars remain visible even after several years.

In truth, it all depends on the’General condition of your skin, of your health,of your Age, of your health practices or the way in which you have soothed minor traumas from everyday life (especially if the wound was not properly managed at the start).

So, on skin that is already damaged or poorly maintained, even superficial wounds end up leaving marks.

Understanding the healing process, treating the lesion and anticipating with targeted care can help you to heal better. And then, nothing is inevitable: even on an older scar that struggles to fade, It is always possible to act.

The magical mechanism of healing

Wound healing is a natural process that can be hindered in cases of clotting disorders, anaemia, diabetes, or poor lifestyle habits (smoking, poor diet, irregular skin cleansing...).

It is also more complicated as we age (collagen production decreases).

Healing occurs in several phases; it allows fibrous tissue to regenerate. :

  • First phase Blood clotting: platelets will play their part in forming a clot to prevent blood leakage. Pro-inflammatory cells destroy germs and intruders to prevent infection.

An inflammatory reaction will occur, the area will be red and warm (a feeling of diffuse heat and pain may then be perceived).
  • Second phase the budding stage (After about a week).
A reconstruction process begins, and the wound closes with the development of new tissue. Beneath the scab (do not touch it until it falls off on its own!), vessels, fibres (collagen, elastin) and cells proliferate.

The following months, the skin continues to slowly rebuild itself. However, it takes time – up to a year or more – for the final scar to form, and even longer before it completely disappears (if everything has healed well).

With the right care and practices, we can help the body at all stages of healing.
